What happens at initial consultation?

I offer 20 min free consultation where you would be able to discuss your needs and wishes, whether we are a good match and how we might best work together. We’ll also talk about your availability and whether you’d prefer sessions online, face‑to‑face, or a mix of both, and anything else you feel would be helpful for me to know.

HOW DO YOU WORK?

My approach is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic styles—such as existential, humanistic, psychodynamic, depending on what feels most helpful in our work together. At the heart of my work is a Person-Centred approach, meaning that I offer a space that is empathic, authentic, and non-judegmental; an environment that supports healing and growth. Counselling isn’t about giving you a solution or advice, but increasing awareness and making better sense of yourself and your story, empowering you to make your own choices. I am a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (NCPS) and adhere to their Code of Ethics.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This is a common questions that is difficult to answer. Significant progress can be made with only a few, if you only wish to address one or two issues. For more complex issues a slower and longer process is recommended. Every person’s journey is unique, and so is the work we do together, at a pace that feels right for you. It is up to you how many sessions we have and we can talk about this early in our work and in our reviews together. I work short and long term, and we can work weekly or fortnightly.

IS IT CONFIDENTIAL?

What you share in therapy is treated with respect and kept confidential. There are only a few exceptions—for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. We’ll go through the full confidentiality policy together in our first session so you feel clear and comfortable about how it works.
